Elke Steegmans

Developer

Elke Steegmans is a lecturer in Applied Computer Science at the UCLL where she teaches software- and web development and does research on software testing.
She received her PhD in Computer Science from the Catholic University Of Leuven.
She is a passionate teacher and as a member of the program committee she always strives to improve the educational program.

Frederik Thielemans

Business analyst

Frederik Thielemans has a background in Business Management and started his career as a junior digital marketeer at Remy Communication. In 2016 he became responsible for the digital marketing & graphic design for dynamo, a professional attitude training company. In 2019 he made the switch from the private sector to the public sector and started working at the University College Leuven-Limburg as a researcher and lecturer. He is passionate about communication & collaboration between different people. In his spare time he enjoys eating healthy food, doing sports, meeting new people and going out with friends.

David Vandenbroeck

Business analyst

David Vandenbroeck has a background in communication sciences and is a passionate researcher in the field of information and communications technology. At UCLL he is involved in a study on Behaviour-Driven Development, looking for a way to promote a correct implementation of this approach. He is a strong believer that good communication solves most problems, one might just need some guidance and the right tools for it.

 

Mieke Kemme

Developer

Mieke Kemme started off as a software developer and tester at Cegeka, an ICT company. In 2007 she took on teaching software- and web development at the UCLL and got involved in research projects on software testing and requirement analysis. Last year she returned to the private sector, working as a business analyst at UnifiedPost, a Belgian Fintech company, combining it with the research job at UCLL.

 

Nicolas Lauwereys

Developer

Nicolas Lauwereys is a researcher and full-stack developer at UCLL. He is passionate about the projects he’s involved in, such as a communication tool for persons with dementia, a help platform for youngsters (Conflicthelden), a tool about domestic violence, etc., as these projects are of great importance to society. He is also one of the researcher-developers of our BDD team. He works on projects from A to Z and he loves analysing and developing new features using the Spring and Xamarin frameworks. In his spare time he has many interests, such as the movie industry and playing music.

Wannes Fransen

Developer

Wannes Fransen is a researcher and lecturer at UCLL with a passion for Japanese culture and language. Striving for up-to-date and scalable solutions, he teaches functional programming, distributed applications and the use of web frameworks with the battle-tested Elixir/Erlang programming language. As a fervent supporter of open source software and vibrant software communities, he contributes by creating libraries and sharing his knowledge and expertise.
